Terms of Service

Chalk is business management software for service businesses, offered as a subscription at chalkcrm.com. Chalk is currently in early access: features are still being built and these terms are deliberately short. They will grow up before general availability, and existing customers will be told when they change.

The service

Your subscription gives your business access to Chalk: quotes, scheduling, invoicing, payment collection, messaging and related tools. We work hard to keep it fast and available, but during early access we do not promise uninterrupted service.

Your data

What you put into Chalk belongs to your business: customers, quotes, invoices, photos, all of it. You can export it at any time from inside the app. We use it only to run the service for you, and we do not sell it. See the privacy policy.

Payments

Card payments from your customers are processed by Stripe under Stripe's terms, and settle to your own Stripe account. Chalk does not hold your funds and does not add a fee on top of Stripe's standard processing. Text messaging runs on carrier networks; a one-time carrier registration fee applies to enable outbound texting and is paid at cost.

Subscriptions

Plans are billed monthly and you can cancel at any time, effective at the end of the billing period. If you cancel, your data remains exportable for 60 days afterward.

Acceptable use

• Use Chalk for your own business's genuine operations.
• Do not send spam or texts to people who have not dealt with your business.
• Do not attempt to breach, probe or overload the service.

Liability

Chalk is provided as-is during early access. To the maximum extent allowed by law, our liability for any claim is limited to the amount your business paid us in the three months before the claim.
